Facebook just asked me for ID before I can log in. Something to do with confirming my identity. I’ve had an account for almost 10 years with the same name. Is this something that they’ve just rolled out? Has anyone else been asked to upload identification?
On the page it brought me to it says the following:
We ask everyone on Facebook to use the name they go by in everyday life so friends know who they’re connecting with.
Please provide identification that displays the name you’d like to confirm and use publicly on Facebook. Keep in mind that if you confirm a name other than the one currently on your profile, the name on your profile may be automatically updated with the name you confirm.
Does this seem strange to anyone else? It seems legit since the page identity checks out but seriosuly.
Although they could finally have come down on me for using only my first name.

They do this usually if someone “complains” that your account is not using your “real” name.

I stopped using Facebook a while back. I kind of like that this exists though.

They took issue with my real name as Buck M.F. Naked. I kept explaining that two middle names is normal in certain social classes, but no dice.

Did you just do what they asked? Did it change anything on your profile?
